Group One has decided to create a business dedicated to producing and selling high quality cupcakes in the Scarborough area located in Perth, WA. The shop will consist of pre-made and made-to-order cupcakes with a cafe available for purchasing hot drinks. The opening hours will range from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through to Saturday, with staff consisting of a baker, a decorator and junior workers to cover the front counter and cafe. Also available is our catering service which provides customers with fresh custom-made cupcakes for any occasion.
In order to assess the market demand in the chosen area, research will be used to get an understanding of the recent dessert trends around Perth, the current increasing demand in the area and the occupancy of existing shops, selling similar products and their locations. With any new business, potential competition can be a threat and therefore needs to be taken into consideration by searching for similar shops via the internet, Yellow Pages and a site visit to assess the proximity of shops in the same street and surrounding suburbs. The target market which the cupcake shop will be intended for includes local residents, visiting tourists, backpackers and customers who seek catering for events. To help assess the target market, surveys will be distributed to get an idea of the demographics in the area and a website will be made available for online ordering and deals offered to regular customers through the loyalty system.

This will hopefully get their attention as they walk by and if the customers don't come in and purchase our cupcakes at the moment then hopefully it will stay in their mind for next time they are close by.
